An envoy from the celestial realm arrives in Zhao Ge, a realm that has been under the dominion of the Shang dynasty for countless ages. Refusing to submit to the gods, the reigning emperor, Zi Zhou, confronts the messenger and declares an end to the oppression of the divine. The gods do not take kindly to this challenge and soon Wu Jifa, the ruler of a neighboring realm, leads a crusade against the Shang rebels. In the ensuing battle, the Shang forces are overcome, and just as the capital city is nearly captured, Zhou himself takes up arms. Despite breaking through enemy lines and advancing towards Jifa, a god falls from the skies, ready to personally deal with the insubordinate ruler.
