SUMMARY
In 1940, Kayoko was a young girl embarking on her first year of school. She was known to be a bit of a crybaby, and enjoyed spending time with friends while singing playful schoolyard rhymes. Kayoko also took pleasure in spending time with her three older brothers, eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new sibling. Although she didn't fully comprehend the responsibility associated with becoming a big sister, Kayoko looked forward to it nonetheless. As the war continued to escalate, patriotism became the norm, and Kayoko willingly contributed to the cause by offering her favorite doll, which contained materials that could be used to build explosives. As time passed and the war raged on, Kayoko witnessed firsthand the impact it had on her life and the lives of those around her. Despite these challenges, nothing could have prepared Kayoko for the events that would unfold in 1945, and the dark times that would soon follow. Kayoko's experiences during this period were based on the real-life accounts of the original creator, Kayoko Ebina, and offer a poignant depiction of World War II during the Showa era.
