As a third-year high school student, Nariyuki Yuiga, the main character in Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai, faces poverty and strives to secure the highly coveted VIP nomination scholarship that covers all college tuition fees. After endless hard work, his dedication is finally recognized, and he is granted the scholarship by the school's headmaster. However, the scholarship comes with a catch. In exchange for financial aid, Yuiga must tutor the school's elite students who are struggling with challenging subjects. Yuiga's tutees are Rizu Ogata, a math prodigy aspiring to study humanities, Fumino Furuhashi, a literary genius hoping to pursue science, and Uruka Takemoto, his childhood friend with a love for sports but less success in academics. Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai follows Yuiga as he takes on the task of teaching his three unconventional students, leading to many comedic and peculiar incidents. With the conflicting aspirations and talents of Ogata and Furuhashi, Yuiga begins to doubt whether he can help his students achieve their individual dreams.
