Ankama Animation produced Wakfu: The Animated Series, a French TV show based on the Wakfu video game. The series has a total of 26 episodes, and its first season aired on France 3 from October 30, 2008, to January 2010. The show is created entirely in France using Adobe Flash software, with the exception of two episodes produced in Japan titled "Noximilien l'Horloger" and "Ogrest, la Légende." Anthony "Tot" Roux is the director, with Xavier "Xa" Houssin and Kim "Tcho" Etinoff leading the character design. The first two episodes were shown in English at the London MCM Expo, and the creators plan to release an English version on Kickstarter. Mini-Wakfu, a spin-off with comedic short segments featuring characters in a super-deformed style, began airing in September 2009. The individual art style of the special episode "Noximilien l'Horloger" was created by the same animators who worked on Kaiba and Kemonozume, with Eunyoung Choi directing and Masaaki Yuasa designing the characters. A crowdfunding campaign to make an English version of the series was launched on Kickstarter in January 2014.
