In 2097, Neo Hong Kong has undergone a technological metamorphosis. Genetic engineering and cybernetics have given birth to a world brimming with artificial enhancements and supercomputers that run on biological software. However, progress is not without peril, as digital viruses now endanger both man and machine. To counteract this risk, the elite STAND unit has been formed to serve as humanity's final line of defense. These individuals don armored cybernetic suits dubbed "variable gears," which are designed to effectively thwart virus-infected war machines. Yet, during the presentation of a novel prototype armored gear, a novel virus infects the device, creating a significant challenge for STAND. It is then that a mysterious stranger named Serge makes an appearance, setting his sights on STAND's leader, Raven. Intrigued by Serge's potential, Raven extends an invitation to him to join the team and equips him with one of their variable gears. Serge proves his mettle when he vanquishes the rogue prototype. Impressed, STAND offers Serge a position in their team. However, all wonder about his secret motives, specifically his past and ties to the malevolent "Incubator." This autonomous orbital space station has its own agenda, to replace the human race with its progeny, all of whom are infected.
