Vandread takes gender segregation to a whole new level. Men and women live on separate planets, Taraak and Mejere in a distant star system. They're so deeply divided that they consider each other as different species. When Hibiki Tokai, a laborer from Taraak, attempts to steal a robot, he ends up stranded on a battleship. But things take a turn for the worse when female pirates capture the male crew of Taraakian Vanguard. The crew's efforts to rescue their comrades backfire, and a massive wormhole forms, swallowing the Vanguard and the Mejeran pirates' ships. Now stranded far from their homes, the men and women must work together if they have any hope of returning home.
