The setting of the tale is in Meiro-chou, a community housing a group of all-female diviners (known as uranaishi) who aspire to be the most elite diviner, "Urara," attracting aspiring girls from around the nation. Today marks the entrance of Chiya, a lone girl who enters the town, but with a different motive for her visit besides becoming Urara. As an apprentice diviner, Chiya meets Kon, a sincere friend, Koume, whose admiration of Western customs is apparent, and the timid Nono. Together, they embark on Chiya's new journey.
