Having lived long enough to witness the construction of the pyramids, a decrepit crocodile suffered from rheumatism and couldn't hunt for his sustenance anymore. In a moment of sheer desperation, he contemplated devouring his great-grandson. However, despite his many years of life and seniority, his family decided to put him out of his misery instead. The old crocodile couldn't bear the shame of losing his family's respect and thus, bid farewell to the Nile. One day, he chanced upon an octopus whom he befriended. The kind-hearted octopus delighted her new companion by serving him an assortments of fish. Yet, come nightfall, the old crocodile couldn't resist the temptation and consumed one of his friend's limbs. From that point onwards, the old crocodile repeatedly helped himself to the octopus's limbs each night.
