Many humans are not acquainted with a distinct tournament that occurs to designate the new leader of the Heavenly World. The contest consists of 100 Heavenly Beings, known as the "God Candidates," who must find middle school students on Earth and bestow their powers upon their chosen candidates. The chosen few must then battle each other while representing their respective God Candidates. The victor is bestowed with the "Blank Talent," granting them the ability to select any unique skill they desire. The God Candidate they represent attains the title of "God" and becomes the Heavenly World's ruler. Kousuke Ueki, a middle school student, takes part in this significant occasion. His homeroom teacher, Kobayashi, confers upon him the power to turn trash into trees. Despite the misgivings of his classmate, Ai Mori, Ueki embarks on a quest to uphold his belief in justice after observing individuals misusing their abilities for their own gain. However, his mission becomes more difficult as he encounters talented power users such as Seiichirou Sano, Rinko Jerrard, Robert Haydn, and Hideyoshi Soya.
