A hundred years ago, "True magic" evolved from being a mere folklore and legend to becoming an ordinary technology across the globe. Nine magic academies, including Japan's First National Magic University Affiliated High School, opened their doors to students, including siblings Miyuki and Tatsuya Shiba. The academy's entrance exam scores determined the segregation of students into two groups: Course 1 and Course 2. As a result, Course 2 students, called "Weeds," were subjected to resentment from Course 1 students, who called themselves "Blooms." Tatsuya enrolled in Course 2, while Miyuki excelled as an honor student in Course 1. Despite her brother's classification as inept, Miyuki was determined to showcase his superior magical abilities at First High. Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei shares the story of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei from the perspective of Miyuki and other female characters.
