In February 1999, Shiki Ryougi and Mikiya Kokutou are thrown into a state of unease as a string of murders takes place. Their shock only deepens when they realize that the killings bear striking similarities to a previous set of homicides in 1995 that have previously brought out the dark urge for murder in Shiki's heart. Due to her association with the past murders and her physical resemblance to the current murderer, Shiki comes under scrutiny as a prime suspect. Together, with the resolve to uncover the truth, Shiki and Mikiya work tirelessly to unmask the real culprit behind the crimes. However, as they progress into the investigation, Mikiya becomes increasingly worried about Shiki's well-being and is determined to shield his friend from her inherent tendency towards violence by finding the true offender. With the valuable assistance of police investigator Daisuke Akimi, Mikiya dives into the murky underbelly of Mifune City in the quest to validate Shiki's innocence and protect her soul.
