SUMMARY
Living in eastern Kobe with his parents and younger brother, Tsuyoshi Takahashi was a determined 6th grader. His goal was to be accepted into a prestigious private school, which meant his schedule was filled with endless studying. He didn't enjoy giving up his free time to help others who asked for his assistance. However, everything changed when a massive earthquake struck Kobe City in the early hours of January 17, 1995. Tsuyoshi and his family managed to flee their damaged home and found refuge at his school. Soon, the children would learn valuable lessons on communal living, rationing, and selflessness thanks to the inspiring example set by numerous volunteers.
