While residing in Kenya with her family, Jackie Rhodes, a British girl, discovers an ailing Bushbaby which she adopts and nurses back to health, naming him Murphy. Jackie, Murphy, her family, and their companions embark on various excursions involving wildlife, poachers, and more. However, Jackie’s father is summoned back to England, prompting Jackie to leave her African life behind. But, prior to departing, Jackie, Murphy, and Tembo, a friend of Jackie’s father, embark on one last escapade: the perilous trek across the savannah to evade their pursuers, the poachers and corrupt law officials. During the expedition, Jackie imparts survival skills to the now domesticated Murphy, enabling her to release him into his natural surroundings before departure.
