Every few decades, the Wild Hunt - a cohort of fae knights on horseback - stirs from its slumber and roams the land, having a deleterious effect on old vegetation and giving new plants a chance to thrive. However, when lightning strikes the stone monument where the Wild Hunt rests, a fragment containing the band's leader is dislodged. As a result, when the group awakens anew, they can no longer maintain their formation and instead, they roam aimlessly through the forests, leaving chaos in their wake. To address this dilemma, Spriggan entrusts Elias Ainsworth with the mission of returning the lost guide's horse to his master. Meanwhile, Gabriel, a young boy with asthma and a hunger for adventure, discovers the broken rock and inadvertently calls forth the knight within. With his only clear memory being the obligation to reunite with his horse and pack, the guide must race against time to repair the damage his absence has caused.
