The project began as a short CG exercise envisioned by Michael Arias from Softimage. Morimoto, however, recognized its potential and opted to join forces with Softimage 3D software for the project. In no time, Wilson Tang and Lee Fulton, the Visual Director and Animation Supervisor, respectively, pitched a pilot to the Softimage team. Made entirely using computer technology, and with a team of just 12 members, the pilot was an instant triumph, receiving the Excellence Award in the Digital Art Division at the 3rd Japan Media Arts Festival.
