Back in 1925 (during the 14th year of the Taisho era), baseball remained a relatively obscure sport in Japan with only a handful of male teams in existence. One day, after being told by a male baseball player that women should abandon their studies and become housewives instead, 14-year-old Akiko challenges those preconceptions by convincing her friend Koume to form a female baseball team. Despite societal beliefs that women shouldn't engage in activities deemed too "vulgar," the girls navigate the daunting task of finding enough members, getting their parents' approval, and even learning the intricacies of the sport itself, which proves to be more challenging than they anticipated.
