Yamato Akitsuki, a teenage boy from the rural area of Hiroshima, has left his hometown to commence his high school studies in Tokyo. In exchange for accommodation and food, he has agreed to help his aunt and cousin manage their all-girls' dorm and hot springs, which is where he plans to live. On his way to meet his relatives, he spots an extraordinary high jumper training at a nearby high school field, and he is transfixed.
Unbeknownst to Yamato, the renowned track and field athlete Suzuka Asahina lives not only in the dormitory but also next door. Despite his unconquerable spirit, Yamato's nonchalant attitude irritates Suzuka, who is immensely talented. As Yamato discovers his innate sprinting ability and joins the track team, he vows to improve his athleticism and become a suitable partner for Suzuka. Through his encounters with classmates, peers, and occasionally intoxicated college residents of the dorm, Yamato must overcome obstacles and push himself beyond his limitations to attain the affection of the woman he loves.
