Although Shunichi Domoto was a natural at various sports, he didn't find his calling until he stumbled upon the world of competitive yo-yoing. The story begins with his friend Beso Kimura losing a yo-yo battle against school bully Benkei Musashimaru. Despite being inexperienced with yo-yos, Shunichi agrees to help Beso retrieve his lost yo-yo. After dedicating himself to three days of intense practice, Shunichi surprisingly defeats Benkei, leading him to believe that mastering yo-yoing is easy and that he can excel at anything he puts his mind to. However, Shunichi's confidence takes a hit when he loses a humiliating fight against the exceptionally talented yo-yo player, Seito Hojoin. This loss becomes a wake-up call for Shunichi and ignites a determination to improve and surpass Seito so that he can win the Japan National Yo-Yo Championship.
