The fairies in Highland once lived freely until humans betrayed them, and now they are enslaved after having their wings stripped. However, Ann Halford, a 15-year-old girl, dreams of a day when humans and fairies are treated equally. She aspires to become a Silver Sugar Master, just like her mother, and sets out for the royal capital of Lewiston to participate in the annual Royal Candy Fair, where she hopes to win a royal medal. To survive the treacherous journey, Ann employs the help of a warrior fairy named Shall Fen Shall, who she saved from his cruel fairy trader. Ann promises to return Shall's wing once they reach the capital, but their relationship grows as they continue their journey together. Along the way, they learn more about each other and their true desires.
