Jane's tragic loss of her mother coincides with her father's swift remarriage to an affluent English aristocrat with a son named William who harbors disdain for his new family. Growing up with her brother George, Jane finds ambition in creating a flying machine with George believing that cerulean sand, a magical substance in the far-off sands of Asia, holds the key to their success. However, George is found guilty of treason and executed, with William also disappearing. Jane receives a letter containing a mysterious, pale blue sand that floats in the air, leading her to believe her brother is alive. She ventures to the East with newfound companions to prove George's innocence and find him but begins to question whether some mysteries should remain unsolved as she faces enigmatic challenges.
