In Japan, Rurouni Kenshin was once famous as the Hitokiri Battousai. However, burdened by his violent past, he now seeks redemption. Though he uses his sword to maintain peace, he cannot find inner peace himself, which causes him to grow distant from those he cares about. Meanwhile, Kenshin's wife, Kaoru, worries and longs for his return, fearing it may be too late.
