According to the Gradius video game series, three storylines unfold. Latis, a planet under attack by the Space Dragon Salamander and their war planet, is left defenseless against the Bacterian horde's ruthless destruction. But hope remains as Lord British calls upon the Three Heroes of Gradius to protect his planet from ruin. In a precursor to the main events, a girl from a distant planet warns Gradius of the impending danger posed by the Bacterians. The girl's tale details the transformation of three ordinary individuals into the destined heroes of the galaxy. Fast forward to after a peace treaty has been established, and one of the three heroes is captured by the Bacterians. Can Gradius' military might and the remaining heroes band together to rescue their comrade from a fate unknown?
