Kakeru Kurahara, a renowned runner from Sendai Josei High School, runs into trouble when he gets caught stealing from a convenience store. With no other option, he flees the scene and collides with Haiji Kiyose, a fellow student who is impressed by Kakeru's lightning-fast speed. Haiji offers him a place to stay at Chikusei-sou, a shabby apartment where he and eight other students reside. Kakeru, who has recently lost his apartment deposit while gambling, reluctantly accepts the offer. During Kakeru's initiation party, Haiji drops a bombshell: Chikusei-sou is actually a dorm for the Kansei University Track Club. Haiji's ultimate dream is to compete in the Hakone Ekiden, a prestigious university marathon relay race. However, none of the other residents, apart from Kakeru and Haiji, have any experience with running, nor do they share Haiji's enthusiasm for his seemingly impossible goal. With only a few months left until the deadline, can the fourth-year student convince his housemates to join him and make his elusive dream a reality?
