After successfully defeating a group of supposed Akatsuki members, the young ninja return home to Konohagakure to celebrate. However, Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno have conflicting emotions about their return. Naruto is envious of his comrades' congratulatory families and yearns for his own parents. Meanwhile, Sakura is furious with her embarrassing parents and wishes to have none at all. As they quarrel over their opposing ideals, a sudden appearance of the masked Madara Uchiha interrupts their dispute as he transports them to an alternate world. In this new realm, Sakura's parents are regarded as heroic figures for sacrificing their lives to defend Konohagakure from the Nine-Tailed Fox incident that happened a decade ago. As a result, Naruto's parents, Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, are still alive and well. Unable to return to their own world and unable to locate the masked Madara, Naruto and Sakura stay in this alternative world and experience the changes they've always desired. Everything seems to be going smoothly until an unexpected threat emerges, compelling Naruto and Sakura to fight for the Konohagakure of the alternate world and find a means to return to their own world.
