On the eve of Halloween, a youthful chimney sweeper by the name of Lubicchi stumbles upon a man borne out of trash by magical means. Dubbed Poupelle by Lubicchi, the two become inseparable, mending the bond that was shattered by the passing of Lubicchi's father, who had fallen prey to the ruthless Inquisitors - a tyrannical institution hell-bent on stifling outside information and the unvarnished history of the town. Their relationship, however, draws eyeballs and raises suspicion, with the Inquisitors as well as a few locals voicing disapproval. Poupelle, who has struck a chord with Lubicchi, is resolute in his intentions: debunk the whispers and clear the smoke that taints the skies overhead. Together, they set out to reveal the truth, determined to hold on to their precious bond.
