Using the fossil of the Legendary Pokémon Mew, Team Rocket creates Mewtwo, their first successful clone. Mewtwo, unable to come to terms with its artificial creation, proceeds to wreak havoc. Team Rocket's leader Sakaki then exploits Mewtwo's vulnerable state, leading it down a path of wickedness. Jaded by humanity's treachery and brutality, Mewtwo alienates itself from others and plots revenge against mankind while searching for its true calling. To achieve this goal, Mewtwo poses as the world's most powerful Pokémon trainer and tricks renowned trainers into fighting with it. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, Satoshi, Takeshi, and Kasumi take on the daunting task of defeating Mewtwo and ensuring humanity's safety.
