Numerous and diverse, Pokémon are fascinating creatures with a variety of types, sizes, abilities, powers, and personalities. Researcher Doctor Yukinari Ookido has devoted his life to studying these creatures, which can be caught, traded, trained, and battled. However, with limitations in the lab, Ookido enlists the help of two young boys by assigning them their own Pokémon and a computerized encyclopedia to document them. One boy, Green, is the doctor's nephew and filled with confidence and passion, while the other, Red, possesses a sense of wonder and a strong determination. The story of Pokémon: The Origin follows Red as he ventures through the region of Kanto in his pursuit of completing his "Pokédex" by capturing and cataloging every species he encounters. As he progresses, he learns more about himself and his own goals. He must challenge gym leaders to earn badges and qualify for the Pokémon League, where he'll compete against the Elite Four to become a champion. In addition to his aspirations to become a champion, Red faces other obstacles. He encounters trainers, wild Pokémon, and a treacherous criminal organization called Team Rocket. If Red can overcome these challenges and defeat his rival Green, he can fulfill his dream and make Ookido proud.
