Molly Hale, a young 5-year old girl, lost her father to a peculiar group of Pokémon known as the Unown who can bring one's dreams to life through Psychic energy. Molly inadvertently frees the Unown who commence fulfilling her desires. They conjure up Entei - a legendary, feline Pokémon who resembles Molly's father when he used to play pretend with her. However, Molly feels isolated as she lacks a maternal figure. In response, Entei kidnaps Ash's mother, Delia, and compels her into the role of Molly's parent. Ash, Brock, and Misty embark on a quest to rescue Delia and Molly while figuring out a way to halt the Unown from transforming the city of Greenfield into a bizarre, crystalline wasteland.
