Yazawa, a Japanese pilot, was forced to endure a six-month recovery period due to a crash in his Phantom jetfighter. Following his recovery, he was approached by a friend from an aviation magazine who requested that he investigate the appearance of a Phantom in an armed conflict in El Salvador. During his inquiry, Yazawa uncovers an international arms conspiracy that is documented in numerous military fiction novels, sending him spiraling down the rabbit hole.
