The story kicks off after the Thriller Bark and Sabaody Archipelago arcs. The antagonist, Golden Lion Shiki, is introduced. He had been beaten and incarcerated in Impel Down by Monkey D. Garp and Sengoku two decades earlier. Nevertheless, Shiki breaks free from prison and starts assembling a crew, with Nami as his navigator. Luffy embarks on a quest to locate Shiki's covert headquarters and rescue his comrade.
