During a game of hide-and-seek, a young boy discovers a peculiar object. His grandfather seizes the opportunity to recount his own past and the prominent role that was fulfilled by the antique lamp. This tale explores Japan's modernization and the accompanying transformations. The execution of the "Young Animator Training Project", which receives a financial allocation of 214 million yen ($2.26 million) from the Agency of Cultural Affairs of Japan, is entrusted to Japan Animation Creators Association (JaniCA). Working alongside four production studios, JaniCA produces four original anime (each running for 23 minutes complete with opening and ending sequences). One of the anime projects, Ojii-san no Lamp, is a part of this initiative.
