In the peaceful town of Sakuranomori, a group of young friends are saying farewell to one of their own. Sana Hidaka is being forced to leave his tranquil childhood home for the bustling city of Tokyo due to his parents' business plans. Despite his reluctance, Sana must part ways with his dear friends: the friendly Aoi Oribe, the lively Wakatsuki twins Shuri and Shuusuke, and the happy-go-lucky Nanaka Yatsushiro. He trusts that even though they will be miles apart, their bond will remain strong. Five years later, sixteen-year-old Sana returns to his hometown hoping to relive his past. However, he soon realizes that his friends have changed significantly, even though the ambiance of Sakuranomori remains the same. There is an uneasy atmosphere as his companions keep secrets and bear burdens that could break their once unbreakable bond.
