In 0079 of the Universal Century, Operation Odessa was executed by the Earth Federation to recapture a key Ukrainian city from the Principality of Zeon. The operation was a victory, scattering the remaining Zeon forces worldwide and giving the Earth Federation an advantage in the One Year War. In the aftermath, Ensign Shiro Amada was sent to Southeast Asia as part of the Earth Federation's initiatives. There, he was unexpectedly ordered to lead the RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type pilots of the 08th MS Team. Their objective was to draw attention away from the search for a mysterious new Zeon weapon. However, Shiro's duty is complicated when he encounters Aina Sahalin, an exceptional Zeon pilot with whom he had previously crossed paths. As their bond weakens his resolve to fight, Shiro is put to the test to prove his loyalty to the Earth Federation or face accusations of disloyalty.
