Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of the Gundam franchise, ventured on a new Gundam saga with Gundam F91, set thirty years after the events of Char's Counterattack in U.C. 0123. The story features Seabook Arno, a young space colonist, and his comrade Cecily Fairchild as they try to thwart the efforts of the Crossbone Vanguard army led by Cecily's grandfather Meitzer Ronah to establish an aristocratic regime known as "Cosmo Babylonia." As is customary in the Gundam world, circumstances force Seabook, a civilian, to pilot the F91 Gundam, which was developed with the help of his mother, Dr. Monica Arno, who is no longer with him.
