SUMMARY
We're thrilled to announce the debut of Midori-Ko, an incredible animation at our festival. Esteemed Japanese animator Kurosaka Keita offers a unique perspective of 21st-century Tokyo on the brink of disaster with a whimsical yet nightmarish twist. The film took Kurosaka ten years to complete using only colored pencil, resulting in an extraordinary masterpiece. The storyline revolves around a young woman's search for a dream-food that can end world hunger. The film's intricate details and expertly crafted frames are reminiscent of Frederic Back's delicate textures, while embodying Bill Plympton's frenetic mutations and David Lynch's mysterious wormholes. Despite its influences, Kurosaka's work shines on its own with a singular, luminous strength.
