Medabots are robots with artificial intelligence obtained through specialized "medals" and are mainly used for the popular sport of "Robbatling." Medafighters utilize their Medabots to qualify for the prestigious World Tournament, where they battle to become champions. Ikki Tenryou, an elementary school student, has just acquired his first Medabot, Metabee, an outdated model without a medal. However, Ikki discovers a medal in a nearby river and inserts it into Metabee's head, causing the bot to exhibit peculiar behavior. Despite being short-tempered and disobedient, Ikki must learn to work with Metabee to reach the top ranks of the World Tournament, no matter how challenging the situation may be.
