Humanity is on the brink of an energy revolution in the upcoming future, with the discovery of Photon Power, a potent resource located beneath Mt. Fuji. The goal was to solve the world's energy crisis, but the villainous Dr. Hell, aided by three followers: Baron Ashura, Count Brocken, and Viscount Pygman, has set his eyes on the energy source with the intent to rule the world. He has amassed an army of robotic beasts retrieved from ancient Greek ruins to seize the Photon Power Lab. In opposition to Dr. Hell is Kabuto Kouji, a passionate adolescent who pilots Mazinger Z, the Photon Powered robot designed by his grandfather. However, in the fight for dominance, numerous puzzles surrounding the Mycenaean Civilization, Bardos Island, and Mazinger Z itself continue to baffle. Shin Mazinger Shougeki!
