Since he was young, Gorou Honda has been passionate about baseball and has looked up to his father, Shigeharu. He dreams of becoming a professional baseball player, just like his dad. Shigeharu's dedication to the sport, despite his wife's passing and his mediocre position on the second-string team Blue Ocean, inspires Gorou to keep pursuing his own aspirations. However, an elbow injury takes Shigeharu off the team and he becomes despondent. Yet, a joke from his childhood friend prompts him to reconsider his options. He makes the decision to continue playing and switches from pitcher to batter. This newfound motivation inspires Gorou to work even harder to establish himself in the Japanese Little League.
