Daigo bears the weight of his father, the famed baseball player Gorou Shigeno, with a heavy heart. Fueled by ambition, he joins the Mifune Dolphins team in fourth grade, the same team where his father once flourished. However, Daigo's lack of talent and self-assurance result in a premature departure from the team.
In sixth grade, a ray of hope appears when Hikaru, the son of Gorou's friend and fellow baseball player, Toshiya Satou, enters the picture. Despite his initial reluctance, Daigo agrees to play for the Dolphins when they are shorthanded and is stunned to discover that Hikaru, with no prior experience, quickly proves himself to be immensely talented at baseball.
Despite their different backgrounds, Daigo and Hikaru are fated to share a love for the sport and are bonded by the passion and legacy of their fathers.
