La Metalle, a frigid world, relies on a failing manufactured star for light, threatening its few remaining life forms. Queen La Andromeda Prometheum considers adopting Hardgear's transformation scheme which would mechanize all inhabitants in order to save her people. Nevertheless, the Queen's daughters, Emeraldas and Maetel, reject the proposal and are unwaveringly committed to preserving their human existence through their rebellion.
