Three decades had passed since the battle between Earth and Zentraedi forces forever altered both civilizations in the year 2040. A top-secret project nicknamed "Supernova" was in progress on the planet Eden to determine the next-generation variable fighter for U.N. Spacy. The funding was up for grabs between the YF-19 from Shinsei Industries and the YF-21 from General Galaxy, with Guld Goa Bowman, a human and Zentraedi hybrid, piloting the latter. Shinsei welcomed the rebellious fighter pilot Isamu Dyson as their new test pilot, who had previously been friends with Guld. As they fiercely competed to prove their fighters' superiority, a Virturoid Idol named Sharon Apple was set to perform her debut concert on Eden, overseen by the producer Myung Fang Lone, who shared a tumultuous past with Isamu and Guld. When the three rekindled old memories, they were unaware of the impact their past, along with the Supernova project and Sharon Apple's concert, would have on bringing them back together.
