SUMMARY
Following the coalition campaign, China is experiencing a nationwide economic revival, and the triumphant Qin state is no exception. The Ying Zheng and Buwei Lü-led political factions are still engaged in a fierce power struggle, with Zheng being favored by the people due to his previous experience as king in the coalition war. Nonetheless, Lü intends to disrupt Zheng's coming-of-age ceremony 18 months from now.
In the meantime, a massive Zhao army of 20,000 soldiers is en route to Qin. Lü craftily suggests that Zheng assume command, but his half-brother, Cheng Jiao, who proved to be a dependable comrade during the coalition battle, volunteers to lead the charge instead. Despite skirmishing with Jiao's troops, the Zhao forces ultimately withdraw.
Despite the triumph in battle, turmoil continues to plague Qin's interior. Only General Bi, who controls 30,000 soldiers, and Xin, the leader of the Fei Xin unit, remain as steadfast supporters amid the uncertainty of impending calamity.
