A 13-year-old witch-in-training named Kiki takes on a challenging journey to become a full-fledged witch by spending a year living in a distant town. Leaving her loved ones behind, Kiki sets out on her broomstick with her black cat Jiji by her side. Upon arrival in the coastal town of Koriko, Kiki struggles to find her footing and ends up aimlessly wandering the streets. Her luck changes when she meets Osono, who offers Kiki shelter in exchange for making deliveries for her small bakery. Seeing an opportunity to gain independence, Kiki decides to start her own courier service by broomstick. Through her adventures, Kiki learns valuable lessons about responsibility and finds her place among the townsfolk.
