In the previous season of Kamisama Hajimemashita, Nanami Momozono and her trusted allies Tomoe and Mizuki faced numerous challenges. However, in the sequel, Wind God Otohiko invites Nanami to the Divine Assembly in Izumo, where the gods reside. Nanami seizes the opportunity and embarks on the journey with Mizuki, while Tomoe impersonates her at school. But, Nanami's true motive for attending the Assembly is to find Lord Mikage, the former god of the shrine who has gone missing. During her stay in Izumo, Nanami encounters Botanmaru, a young Tengu searching for Shinjirou Kurama, a tengu-turned-goth-idol. Botanmaru wants Shinjirou's help to restore peace to their town, Mount Kurama. However, as the story unfolds, Nanami discovers a more significant threat to Mount Kurama, more significant than the tyranny of Jirou, who rules the town. As Nanami strives to attain her divine status, she faces challenges like a tengu rebellion, her growing love for Tomoe, and an enigmatic man with a shared past with Tomoe and Nanami.
