During Japan's Heian Period, when malevolent spirits still roamed the forests, mountains, and rivers, a girl and her beloved engage in combat against these malevolent entities. Disguised as a man, this intrepid individual known as "Kaidomaru" bore a "Flame" Chinese character tattoo on her upper arm as one of the "Four Devas." Kaidomaru valiantly fought to restore the honor of her lost love, Raikou Minamotono, who gave his life to shield Kyoto from the misdeeds of a "princess" bewitched by an evil ogre. The very same princess, Kaidomaru's childhood playmate, had become her ultimate foe.
