The ruler of the jungle is Ta-chan, who was abandoned in the savanna and raised by a chimpanzee named Etekichi. He is happily married to Jane, a once-famous model from New York who now appears quite different. Ta-chan, along with his disciple Pedro and a Chinese martial arts expert named Ryo, fights against poachers to protect the animals. This anime, which bears the same name as the manga, initially starts as a humorous Tarzan spoof. While the first few episodes are comedic, the remaining episodes become more serious in nature.
