In Japan, Jotaro Kujo, a well-liked high school student, experiences a supernatural metamorphosis that leads him to believe he's possessed by a spirit, leading him to isolate himself in jail. When Muhammad Abdul, the friend of his grandfather Joseph Joestar, confronts Jotaro, he discovers that his spirit is actually a fighting energy called a Stand, which he names Star Platinum. Later, Jotaro's mother obtains her own Stand, which causes her to fall ill. Jotaro uncovers that this is due to the existence of Dio Brando, a vampire defeated by Jonathan Joestar, Jotaro's great-great-grandfather, 100 years ago. To avenge his family, Jotaro teams up with Joseph and Abdul on their quest to defeat Dio once and for all in Egypt.
