In their pursuit to retrieve the shards of the Shikon Jewel, Inuyasha, Kagome Higurashi and their comrades encounter Menoumaru Hyouga, a demon who has been awakened by one of the fragments. Menoumaru is after Inuyasha's Tessaiga, which is essential in reclaiming his rightful family heritage. However, after a confrontation between their fathers, the sword becomes the only way for Menoumaru to restore his heritage. When Menoumaru attacks Inuyasha, he realizes that only the sword's true owner can wield it. Despite this, he kidnaps Kagome and forces Inuyasha to unleash the sealed powers of the Hyouga clan. Inuyasha and Kagome, with the help of their friends, fight to stop Menoumaru, unaware of the danger his intentions pose to their world and its future.
