If a man has multiple wives and concubines, he is essentially betraying his spouse. Similarly, if a woman runs away with another man, she is committing infidelity towards her own husband. Cheating on one's partner, regardless of gender, is still regarded as infidelity. Ultimately, the driving force behind all of this is the craving for power and control.
