Kikuru Madan, a highly respected guard in the Mebuki guild, feels he has wasted his youth and desires to lead a normal life. However, he is apprehensive about leaving the guild as he fears for its future without his expertise. To find a potential successor, Enome, the guild's receptionist, assigns Kikuru four new recruits: the lively beastwoman Hitamu "Hitamuki" Kyan, the gifted Maidena Ange, the easy-going Toxico Dannar, and the strong-willed Hanabata Nohkins. Although each has distinct skills, their shortcomings, like Hitamu's clumsiness and Hanabata's perverseness, need attention. Adding to their troubles, the monsters outside Mebuki's walls have started targeting women inappropriately, posing difficulties for the group. Despite this, Kikuru is determined to retire early; therefore, his mentorship to the new trainees becomes critical to accomplish his objective.
